A website almost all stores passwords, usernames, urls and others in the form of information which of course the information is stored in a database server. One of the web servers commonly used by web developers is MySQL. MySQL is a database management system that is commonly used to manage data and information.

MySQL is a database server program that is capable of receiving and sending data very quickly, multi-user and using SQL (Structured Query Language) basic commands. MySQL has two licenses, namely Free Software and Shareware.

The MySQL that we usually use is MySQL Free Software which is under the GNU/GPL (General Public License). MySQL is a free database server, meaning that we are free to use this database for personal or business purposes without having to buy or pay for a license.

MySQL was first pioneered by a database programmer named Michael Widenius. In addition to the database server, MySQL is also a program that can access a MySQL database that acts as a server, which means that our program acts as a client.

So MySQL is a database that can be used as a client or server. MySQL database is a database software in the form of a relational database or called a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) which uses a query language called SQL (Structured Query Language).

MySQL database has several advantages over other databases, including:

  1. MySQL is a Database Management System (DBMS).
  2. MySQL as a Relation Database Management System (RDBMS) or known as a Relational database.
  3. MySQL is a free database server, meaning that we are free to use this database for personal or business purposes without having to buy or pay for a license.
  4. MySQL is a database client.
  5. MySQL is capable of accepting stacked queries in a single request or MultiThreading.
  6. MySQL is a database that is capable of storing data with very large capacities up to gigabytes in size though.
  7. MySQL is supported by the ODBC driver, meaning that the MySQL database can be accessed using any application including visuals such as Visual Basic, PHP and Delphi.
  8. MySQL is a multi-user database server, meaning that this database is not only used by one person but can be used by many users.
  9. MySQL supports fields that are used as primary keys and unique keys
    (Unique).
  10. MySQL has speed in creating tables and updating tables.

Despite its many advantages, the MySQL database also definitely has some disadvantages compared to other databases, including:

  1. Technical Support on MySQL is claimed to be not good. This relates to its open source status. This makes it difficult for users to contact technical support to find MySQL when faced with a problem when using the software.
  2. Difficult to Apply with Large Database
  3. Unpopular For Game and Mobile Apps

Next time I will share the basic queries contained in SQL, thanks for visiting, if anyone wants to ask, please write in the comments column, we will discuss together hehe. See you papa
